Spooky Fantasy Trees

Needed: watercolor paper
watercolor paint
sponge
drinking straw
eye-dropper

Above Art by: Kobe
Use a sponge to paint your chosen background color
and let dry
(we taped the edges to a newspaperto keep flat)
using your eye-dropper,
drip watercolor along the bottom of your paper
While the paint is still wet,
watch your trees grow and branch out
by blowing through your drinking straw

Leaf & a Fuzzy Eater

Maya matches this golden leaf to it's tree
it's a Silver Maple

Kyle lets this fuzzy friend tickle his fingers

We later read that this is a
Fall Webworm: Hyphantria cunea
and he appears to be hungry,
we watch as it munches the edge of this maple leaf

Hi There!

Fall Carving & Building for my Tactile Learners

We enjoy projects that engage all of our senses and we learn best by doing

Pumpkins full of stringy pulp and slimy seeds!
The meat was carved out for a pie,

the seeds were left on the porch

and we watched as the birds that live in our trees feasted!

We used tools to saw through the tough pumpkin skin
and imagination to carve a design

Kyle observes as his daddy carves,
which appeals to the visual learner in him.
Notice Kyle's expression..
it's his concentration face :D

More hands on experience..he's building hand-eye coordination

a sense of accomplishment..it's a frankenstein box!

Learning by doing facilitates discussion which enhances their understanding

and builds self-confidence!

A Sharing Day with Daddy

who makes the best airtraffic controller for a little airplane like Kyle.

A family of 6 has to learn to share..toys, space...time with the airtraffic controller...In the distance sits a frustrated big brother wanting his time on daddy's shoulder's..

And then the tables turn
But there's room in his arms for both of his boys

And it's a good thing because they look up to him,

and love him dearly
